I've always loved making art, creating. Influenced by my Mother's highly creative ways and my encouraging, knowledgeable High School Art Teacher/Sgraffito Artist Don Townsend. I truly enjoy oil painting with either palette knife or brush. It IS challenging, it requires concentration, it's rewarding, enjoyable and fun, as I think it should be. I really began producing consistent paintings in January 2001. I studied Graphic Design and Illustration at the Maryland Institute College of Art graduating with a Major in Graphic Design/Illustration in 1980. I had one freshman painting class in college. At that time I was totally intimidated by oil paint and wondered how anyone could possibly apply those colors to canvas. I wanted to be able to paint but I guess at the time lacked the patience and guts I needed to jump that personal hurdle. Painting intrigued me. I knew what I enjoyed looking at at Galleries, Museums and Online. Since 2001, I have basically taught myself to oil paint by applying paint, reading, studying paintings and experimenting with the paint on various substrates. The more I paint, the more I learn and hopefully the better my paintings will become.
